Damast utility knife
Forged to shape out of pattern welded steel I bought. Achim Wirtz, who called it his ‘damascus for special projects’, combined 90MnCrV8 (1.2842), 100Cr6 or 52100 (1.3505) and 75Ni8 (1.2796). The pattern of the different steels is notable in color as well as as topographically (texture), which was achieved by etching the blade in different stages.
Fitted with an oak wood handle that has more plain grain structure and a white bolster, it contrasts nicely with the blade.
To avoid rust formation and ensure the longevity of the knives, I advise you to clean and properly dry the blades after use. Doing so your knives will stay sharp even longer.
